Sealant SLT 3S

Description:

SLT 3S is a one-component, moisture-cured silicone sealant, acidic curing, which contains fungicide. It cures at room temperature to form a flexible, medium modulus watertight joint for general sanitary sealing.

Examples of applications:

SLT 3S can be used on all weatherproofing or bonding applications where protection against fungal growth is sought, such as:

Jointing baths, sinks, showers, kitchen furniture, urinals.

Jointing ceramic tiles, plumbing fixtures or cold rooms.

Advantages:

SLT 3S has been specifically formulated as a sanitary sealant for use in hot humid environments such as kitchens and bathrooms where resistance to fungal growth is necessary.

SLT 3S is easily extruded and its rapid curing characteristics enable units to be quickly sealed and put into service. Its smooth, glossy appearance compliments glazed sanitary ware and ceramic tiles.

SLT 3S adheres without primer to glass, ceramic, vitreous, surfaces,

painted surfaces. It offers good resistance to most common cleaning products.

Processing

Joint dimensions :

The movement capability of sealants as well as local regulations must be considered.

Joint preparation:

The joint faces to be bonded must be clean, dry and free from dust, oil, grease, old sealant and any traces of contaminant which may affect adhesion. Surfaces should be degreased with solvent soaked cloth and then wiped with a clean cloth. To remove dust, use oil-free compressed air.

Priming

For almost substrates, SLT 3S need not primers. Whether use primer or not when applied on special substrates, prior test is recommended.

Sealant application:

For good performance it is essential that the sealant is only bonded to the two facing sides of the joint. To achieve this install a backup material (closed cell polyethylene or open cell polyurethane foam). Apply the sealant in a continuous operation making sure all air pockets or voids are eliminated. Tool the sealant with light pressure to spread the material against the joint surfaces.

This operation should be made with a dry spatula before skin formation occurs.

Excess uncured sealant should be wiped and cleaned with a commercial solvent, cured sealant can only be removed by scraping (i.e. with a razor blade), or with a special silicone remover product.

Limits of use:

SLT 3S must not be used on sensitive surfaces which could react with the acetic acid which is released during cure, nor should it be used on materials where migration of constituents can take place, e.g. certain rubbers.

SLT 3S must not be used for sealing aquariums (presence of fungicide).

SLT 3S is not recommended where abrasion or physical abuse will be encountered. For all uses in permanent immersion, please consult us.

Colors: Translucent, White. For other colors, please consult us.

Packaging:

SLT 3S is available in 195kg drums and 820kg big bags.

Storage and shelf-life:

SLT 3S has a shelf life of 24 months, SLT 3S has a shelf life of 18 months, guaranteed by from its date of manufacture, when stored at a temperature between –5°C to +50°C in its original unopened packaging. After opening the product must be used quickly.
